Highpoint Solutions utilise a broad range of innovative leak detection technologies to identify and track leaks in a non-intrusive manner. Using state-of-the-art moisture detection equipment including; infrared thermography, microwave moisture mapping, and ultrasound emissions instruments; our highly trained technicians will accurately diagnose and locate even the smallest of leaks.
The work divides into two quite different disciplines. Building water ingress — homes, commercial buildings and strata — is about tracing water back through the fabric of a building to the defect letting it in. Industrial leak detection is about gas, compressed air, steam and moisture under insulation on operating plant. Different instruments, different reporting, different people asking.
Building water ingress — residential, commercial & strata
Water rarely shows up where it gets in: it travels along a slab, down a stud, or across a suspended slab before it stains a ceiling. Reading a damp patch alone gets you a repair in the wrong place. Combining infrared with microwave moisture mapping lets our inspectors see both the surface thermal pattern and the moisture distribution through the build-up, so the survey ends with a cause, not a symptom.

Leak rectification & waterproofing
Finding the leak is half the job. Highpoint Solutions holds a QBCC waterproofing licence, so the same crew that traces the ingress can strip, prepare and re-waterproof balconies, roofs, planter boxes and wet areas — with durable repairs designed to withstand the test of time, and a warranty behind the work. No hand-off to a second contractor, no argument about whose fault the leak was.
Electro-acoustic detection on buried water mains
Water escaping a pressurised main makes a noise, and that noise travels along the pipe. Ground microphones and correlators pick it up at the surface, so the run can be listened along and the loss pinned to a length of pipe rather than a paddock. On operating plant the leak is usually not water, and it is usually costing money continuously rather than damaging a building slowly.
Ultrasound Leak Detection Surveys
Ultrasound leak detection encompasses a wide range of leaks: pressure, vacuum and any gas. Leaks of compressed air, gases or vacuum all create turbulent flows which can be detected with an Ultrasonic Leak Detector. Compressed air leaks can be extremely hazardous and are expensive too. Hydrocarbon Leak Detection – Fugitive Emissions Surveys
Highpoint Solutions conduct fugitive emissions surveys for industrial clients throughout Australia. Using FLIR optical gas imaging (OGI) cameras, our inspectors can quickly, accurately and safely detect hundreds of industrial gas types, even in hard to access areas. Steam traps, valves & air tightness testing
Failed steam traps pass live steam continuously and are effectively silent to the ear but loud in ultrasound. The same instrument tests valve passing and carries out air tightness testing by acoustic emission on cabins, containers, hatch covers and enclosures.
Moisture under insulation (MUI/CUI)
Water trapped beneath process pipework insulation is invisible from outside and corrodes the pipe underneath it. Infrared thermography identifies wet insulation across long runs quickly, so cladding is only removed where there is something to find.
Pipe & cable locating
Water, sewer, gas, power and comms located before you dig or core. Electromagnetic tracing and sonde location with depth estimation, services marked on site and recorded on a plan, and run alongside electro-acoustic location on buried water mains.
